Walton homers and Bolte has 4 hits to lead the Athletics to a 7-3 victory over the Angels

Donovan Walton scored three runs in his ninth home run, propelling the Athletics to a 7-3 triumph over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night. Rookie Henry Bolte recorded his first four-hit game, contributing to the Athletics' lead with his performance. Lawrence Butler added an RBI single, further bolstering the Athletics' score.

Walton's ninth home run, a powerful two-out shot off rookie Walbert Ureña, put the Athletics ahead 4-0 in the first inning. Bolte's batting prowess continued as he went 4 for 5, scored two runs, and delivered an RBI double in the second inning, extending the Athletics' lead to 5-0. Mike Trout and Vaughn Grissom followed suit, hitting back-to-back home runs off Jeffrey Springs to make the score 5-2.

Grissom added an RBI single in the fifth inning, narrowing the gap to 5-3 and inducing Springs to leave the game. Alika Williams and Bolte contributed with singles in the sixth inning, both scoring on Shea Langeliers' double. Springs surrendered three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings, marking his 426th career victory. Geoff Hartlieb (2-1) secured the win with five outs, while Elvis Alvarado struck out two in the ninth inning, sealing the victory.

Ureña allowed five runs on seven hits in four innings. Athletics catcher Brian Serven had to leave the game after fouling a bunt off his left eye in the sixth inning. The Angels (60-98), aiming to avoid a first 100-loss season in franchise history, will host RHP Grayson Rodriguez (4-8, 5.96) in the first of four games against the Mariners to conclude the regular season.

The Athletics have yet to announce Thursday's starting pitcher for their upcoming series against the visiting Astros.
