Vande Bharat train hits 180 kmph in high-speed trial, more tests ahead

Indian Railways' new Vande Bharat Chair Car rake achieved a milestone on the Nagda-Kota-Sawai Madhopur section of West Central Railway, with the train successfully reaching 180 kmph during a high-speed trial. This achievement marks the completion of the loaded oscillation trial, part of a series of tests overseen by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). Despite this success, multiple other trials remain pending before the train can receive its final speed certification.

During the 180 kmph trial, the Vande Bharat rake, constructed at Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, was evaluated for its riding quality, stability, and safety-related parameters. The trial, which included a loaded oscillation test with the train carrying the specified load and inflated air springs, is a crucial step in the validation process of the high-speed, state-of-the-art train.

RDSO will meticulously examine the recorded data and results from the trials to ensure they meet the stipulated technical parameters. Once the satisfactory completion of the entire trial programme is confirmed, the Vande Bharat Chair Car rake will be awarded its final speed certificate, paving the way for future high-speed operations on Indian Railways.
