UAE records 3,494 motorcycle accidents in four years

Motorcycle accidents across the UAE surged by more than double over a four-year period, increasing from 605 incidents in 2022 to 1,224 in 2025, according to Ministry of Interior data. The total number of motorcycle accidents recorded between 2022 and 2025 amounted to 3,494, with the rise occurring yearly. The growing number of motorcycles on UAE roads, particularly for delivery services and personal use, has contributed to the increase.

Accidents involving delivery motorcycles and privately owned bikes have more than doubled during this period. The primary causes of motorcycle accidents, as identified by the Ministry of Interior, include speeding, tailgating, improper overtaking, rider distraction, and disregarding traffic signals and road signs. Authorities highlighted the vulnerability of motorcyclists and emphasized the need for focus, safe distances, and cautious behavior on the roads.

As motorcycles become more prevalent, Traffic and Patrol Departments have intensified awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to promote safer riding practices and reduce traffic violations. In Fujairah, an Emirati motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident, while Dubai Police issued a warning about common mistakes leading to fatal accidents for delivery riders. Across the UAE, Emirati motorcyclists caused 271 accidents by jumping red lights in 2024.
