Trump y Xi prometen "colaboración" en IA, comercio y trabajar en un "futuro mejor"

President Donald Trump received Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping with honors at the White House as both nations extended a trade truce to allow for further negotiations. The grand red carpet laid by President Trump for Xi Jinping during the first visit of a Chinese leader to the U.S. in over a decade has begun to pay dividends. The two countries agreed to extend the trade truce to give breathing room to the ongoing trade negotiations, while their respective presidents pledged collaboration in areas such as economy, artificial intelligence, and resolving international conflicts to ensure a better future.

Upon greeting Xi at the Andrews Air Force Base, Trump offered a ceremonial honor to the Chinese president in Washington. During the event, both leaders showcased one of the few public appearances they would make during their three-day official visit to highlight their solid relationship while awaiting private discussions on sensitive matters like competition in artificial intelligence, Taiwan's sovereignty, the outcome of the Iran war, and their own trade battle.

So far, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the preliminary negotiations he had with China's Vice Premier, He Lifeng, in New York had led to a two-month extension of the existing trade truce, which was set to expire on November 10. This extension would provide space for a more comprehensive trade agreement. President Trump praised his administration's efforts to foster a more balanced trade relationship, including increased market access for U.S. farmers and ranchers.

Xi Jinping, in turn, declared that China and the U.S., as two major powers, are winning through cooperation and losing through confrontation. He emphasized that the two nations must maintain a healthy competition within certain limits and that China welcomes U.S. companies investing and doing business in the country.

During the visit, Trump addressed pressing issues related to security, technology, and superintelligence, also known as AI, which he prefers to refer to as the "Super Intelligence" (SI). He stressed that the decisions made today in these areas could promote peace and prosperity for decades to come. Xi Jinping highlighted that both China and the U.S. are leaders in artificial intelligence and have the capacity and responsibility to develop and manage AI for the common good, ensuring its development remains under human control and serves the well-being of the population.

Trump and Xi Jinping pledged to continue working together to forge a better future for both nations, acknowledging their strong friendship and commitment to collaboration.
