US President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Wednesday, kicking off Xi's three-day state visit in the United States ahead of the US-China summit. As part of the military honours, two US Air Force B-1 bombers flew overhead, causing the US President to visibly wince at the powerful roar.

Trump and Xi stood side by side on the tarmac during the flyover, with Xi maintaining a composed expression and showing no visible reaction. The event featured a 100-foot-long red carpet, a salute battery, a 21-person honor cordon, colour teams carrying the US and Chinese flags, and a performance by the US Air Force Band. The visit is expected to focus on various issues, including trade, tariffs, technology, artificial intelligence, military ties, Taiwan, and geopolitical disputes such as Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.
