Super Eagles’ push to be Africa’s best begins with AFCON qualifiers — Adams

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams has stated that Nigeria's aim to become the top team in Africa must start with the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Speaking in an interview with Pooja Media, Adams emphasized the significance of the two qualifying matches, stating that they would set the tone for the team's aspirations. He added that if the goal is to be the best team in Africa, it starts from the qualification process, which aligns with the head coach's vision.

Éric Chelle, the current head coach, has recently announced his squad for the AFCON qualifiers, as well as a friendly match against Russia. Several new players have been given their first call-ups to the national team, and Adams welcomed these additions. He believed that competition for places would enhance the overall strength of the Super Eagles. "Whatever makes us better, that's the goal," Adams said, adding that the coach has made it clear that deserving players will be welcomed into the squad.

Adams, who returned to the team for the international break, expressed his privilege in being reinstated and shared his teammates' enthusiasm to reunite.
