Stuttgart Set €40m Price as Inter and Roma Miss Out on Leweling

Stuttgart insisted on a minimum price of €40 million for winger Jamie Leweling, keeping him firmly within the Bundesliga. Inter and Roma both showed interest in the versatile German international, but their bids ultimately fell through. Marco Conterio reports for Tuttomercatoweb that Inter conducted a genuine inquiry into Leweling's availability and potential impact, assessing the feasibility of incorporating his varied playing style into their squad.

Similarly, Roma's pursuit was motivated by their need for a versatile forward to bolster their attacking options. The Nerazzurri's interest was primarily to provide Christian Chivu with additional attacking flexibility, much like their pursuit of winger Nico Gonzalez earlier in the transfer window. Inter's interest in Leweling was driven by his ability to operate as a right winger, left winger, trequartista, or supporting forward, making him a valuable asset for any coach.

However, both clubs were unable to secure Leweling, with Inter ultimately unable to match Roma's €40 million asking price, just as they failed to acquire Luis Henrique. Leweling, a Nuremberg native, has spent his entire professional career in Germany, developing through Nuremberg, Greuther Fürth, and Union Berlin before joining Stuttgart permanently in 2024 for €6 million.

The 25-year-old German international has earned six caps for the national team, but for now, Inter and Roma will have to turn their attention elsewhere.
