He highlighted the country's shortage in solar energy engineering, system maintenance, and advanced photovoltaic integration.
Prempeh pointed out that while advanced economies in Europe and North America are investing in workforce transitions to future-proof their labor markets, developing nations risk importing expensive physical hardware without the necessary local human capital to maintain it. The SBGF is also collaborating with government institutions, such as the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Development and the National Youth Authority (NYA), to provide capacity-building initiatives in solar energy and waste management.
Additionally, the foundation is partnering with Accra Technical University and Germany's RELEVATE gUG to align technical training with industry needs. Prempeh commended the Applied Technology Institute's Principal, Ing. Emmanuel Kotey Ashie, for supporting the training program and urged professionals in the sector to continuously upgrade their skills and obtain formal certifications as solar technology evolves.
