Singapore's NUSX is coming for Munich's deeptech crown — with UnternehmerTUM as its partner
NUS Enterprise, the entrepreneurial heart of the National University of Singapore (NUS), today announced its first European outpost in Munich, in partnership with the entrepreneur hub UnternehmerTUM (...
Singapore's NUSX entrepreneurial firm is establishing a presence in Munich, partnering with German innovation hub UnternehmerTUM. The collaboration focuses on reciprocal outposts, investment opportunities, and talent development, with an emphasis on biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors. The partnership aims to connect the innovation ecosystems in Singapore and Munich, providing NUS deep tech ventures with better access to European partners, investors, and markets, while opening Singapore and Asia to Munich-based ventures.
Since its inception in 2001, NUSX has nurtured 10 unicorns, over 3,000 startups, and 5,500 students. TUM is home to more than 140 scalable startups and 500+ innovation partnerships annually, making it Europe's leading startup hub for three consecutive years. The partnership will be based at the Munich Urban Colab, an 11,000-square-meter innovation center, providing NUS students with access to industry partners, technical expertise, and opportunities to validate their technologies in Europe.
Selected NUS students will also gain access to UnternehmerTUM programs focusing on IP-based venture creation. This collaboration builds on NUS Enterprise's existing partnership with TUM through the NUS Overseas Colleges program, which has connected nearly 120 NUS and TUM students through exchanges between Singapore and Munich since 2017.
Dr. Tan Sian Wee, NUS Senior Vice President (Innovation & Enterprise), stated that the collaboration will deepen the global venture-building network.
