Adobe Premiere Finally Comes To Android Smartphones, Brings Free 4K Video Editing & Firefly AI Tools

Adobe has finally released its mobile version of Premiere for Android smartphones, bringing a free, comprehensive video editing app to the Google platform, more than a year after its debut on iPhone. This release enables creators to edit and export videos entirely from their Android devices, with core editing tools and 4K exports available at no cost. Generative AI features, powered by Adobe Firefly, are offered as optional paid extras, with 250 free credits provided monthly.

Adobe Premiere mobile first appeared on iPhone roughly a year ago, in September 2025, following a preorder link on the App Store. The Android app follows a similar approach, essentially bridging Google's platform to match the capabilities of the iPhone version. Key features include a multi-track timeline, 4K HDR editing, automatic captions, and Firefly-powered AI tools for creating images, audio, and video from text prompts.

Unlike the iPhone version, the Android app is officially described as a free editor, not a stripped-down trial. Users can perform a range of editing tasks, such as splitting, trimming, cropping, merging clips, adjusting playback speed, adding text, effects, and multiple audio tracks, as well as recording voiceovers, all without any subscription. The app also supports unlimited 4K video exports without watermarks or in-app ads, and it doesn't require a login to start editing or save projects locally.

The paid elements of the Android app focus on generative AI and storage. Adobe Firefly-powered features, including image generation, image-to-video conversion, and text-prompted sound effects, operate on an AI credit system, though a free allowance of 250 credits per month is included. Additional cloud storage is sold separately.

The Android app is now available on the Google Play Store, but it is not universally supported. It requires a device running Android 13 or later with at least 5GB of RAM. Adobe claims the app has already surpassed 50,000 downloads and hints at more features in the pipeline, such as Adobe Fonts, enhanced captions, keyframes, and beat detection, although no specific timeline for these additions has been provided.
