Sangita Srivastava takes charge as Allahabad University VC for the second time

Sangita Srivastava has been reappointed as the Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University for a second five-year term, becoming the first person in the university's history to serve in the position twice. President Droupadi Murmu approved the extension of her appointment, which will last until she turns 70 years old or the successor is appointed, whichever comes first. Srivastava previously held the top post from November 30, 2020, to the end of her initial five-year term on November 29, 2025.

The appointment was made official on September 23, coinciding with the university's foundation day. In her first tenure, Srivastava helped Allahabad University receive an A+ grade from the NAAC and implement a four-year undergraduate program under the National Education Policy 2020. She also recruited around 400 teachers and promoted over 280 faculty members.

During this period, the university introduced a Roll of Honour board honoring 256 distinguished alumni and established a day-care center in the Faculty of Science. Faculty, employees, and students at the university have welcomed her reappointment with enthusiasm.
