Saab signs space deals with Ericsson, OHB Sweden and SSC Space

Swedish defense contractor Saab has entered into memorandums of understanding with three companies to expand its presence in the space sector. The agreements with SSC Space, OHB Sweden, and Ericsson will explore collaborations in satellite systems, ground infrastructure, and communications. Saab aims to integrate space-based capabilities into various defense systems, including air, land, sea, and cyber domains.

By partnering with SSC Space, Saab will leverage the company's ground-station network, mission engineering, high-altitude platform services, and orbital launch infrastructure, such as the Esrange Space Center. The agreement with OHB Sweden will focus on integrating satellite systems and platforms into Saab's multi-domain solutions.

Meanwhile, the deal with Ericsson will concentrate on combining terrestrial and space-based communications for defense and security applications. These partnerships aim to bolster Swedish and Nordic capabilities across the space value chain, as defense forces increasingly depend on space-based systems for communications, navigation, surveillance, and early warning.
