S. Korea vows continued support for Ukraine in FM talks

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun assured ongoing assistance for Ukraine during bilateral foreign ministerial discussions, as reported by Seoul's foreign ministry on Thursday. Cho convened with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, in New York on Wednesday, during the United Nations General Assembly. The talks occurred as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on the same day that Ukraine had recently delivered two North Korean soldiers, captured by Ukrainian forces, to South Korea.

While the ministry did not include Zelenskyy's comments in the release, it emphasized Cho's commitment to providing the necessary support for the Ukrainian populace.

Earlier, South Korea had announced its intention to offer $100 million in non-lethal aid to Ukraine during the NATO summit held in Ankara in July. Cho also engaged in separate discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the same day. In these talks, Cho reiterated the importance of ensuring unrestricted and secure passage for all vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting South Korea's participation in such efforts.
