Rahul Gandhi a master of deception, allegations of vote theft lack evidence: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of "vote theft" and other election-related issues on Thursday (September 24, 2026). BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi described Gandhi as a "master of deception" and questioned his "zero political knowledge". Trivedi pointed out that the Congress has not returned to power in several states since the 1960s and 1970s, including Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha.

He argued that anti-incumbency was strong against the Congress due to their lack of government presence in those states over the past decades. Trivedi also alleged that the Congress had struggled to return to power as elections became more transparent with CCTV monitoring, deployment of Central paramilitary forces, and independent media and judiciary.

He claimed that Gandhi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won their seats in Kerala and Uttar Pradesh with the help of their ally parties. Trivedi questioned the basis of a news report about communications between the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners, suggesting that there was no evidence of non-unanimous decisions in the Election Commission of India.

He emphasized the importance of proper verification of voter lists, especially in areas with demographic changes, and questioned the eligibility of an 18-year-old without family records or documents to vote. Trivedi highlighted the Congress's win in Assam's Dhubri seat, where the party's candidate won by a large margin, despite significant demographic changes.
