PDP to conduct fresh Gombe governorship primary after court nullifies earlier exercise

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to hold a new governorship primary in Gombe State following a ruling from the Federal High Court that invalidated the previous election. The court's decision has reopened the race for the party's 2027 gubernatorial nomination, rendering the earlier primary null and void. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, pledged that the party would abide by the court's directive, underscoring its commitment to upholding the rule of law and the judiciary's authority. The PDP expressed respect for the principles of internal democracy, due process, fairness, and strict adherence to its constitution, electoral guidelines, and the laws of Nigeria.

While the party has initiated preparations for the subsequent primary, no specific date has been disclosed. Mohammed assured that once the necessary arrangements are finalized, details regarding the fresh primary, including date, timeline, and other pertinent information, will be communicated to party aspirants, stakeholders, members, and the public.

The PDP also requested its members and supporters in Gombe State to maintain composure, law-abiding behavior, and unity as the party moves forward with implementing the court's judgment.
