NUS Enterprise, Singapore's entrepreneurial hub, is expanding its reach into Munich through a strategic partnership with UnternehmerTUM. This collaboration aims to strengthen ties between the Singapore and Munich innovation ecosystems, providing NUS DeepTech ventures with easier access to European partners, investors, and market opportunities.

At the same time, it opens doors for Singapore-based ventures to connect with Munich-based ventures in Asia. Munich, renowned as one of Europe's top technology and innovation hubs, will serve as a strategic base for NUSX ventures seeking to tap into European partnerships, capital, and markets. The partnership will focus on three key areas: reciprocal outposts, investment, and talent development.

NUSX's second global outpost will be located at the Munich Urban Colab, a 11,000-square-meter innovation center co-established by UnternehmerTUM and the City of Munich. This outpost will serve as a bridge between NUS DeepTech ventures and the wider UnternehmerTUM and TUM Venture Labs ecosystem, offering access to industry partners, technical expertise, and validation opportunities in the European market.

In return, TUM Venture Labs, a joint initiative of TUM and UnternehmerTUM, is exploring a presence at NUS i³ in Singapore, enabling Munich-based ventures to gain direct access to Singapore's innovation ecosystem and broader Asia connections. The collaboration builds upon NUS Enterprise's existing relationship with TUM through the NUS Overseas Colleges programme, which has facilitated exchanges between NUS and TUM students since 2017.

This partnership extends investment opportunities as well, with NUS in advanced talks to join the €102 million NUS VC Programme as a fifth VC partner, affiliated with a Munich-based venture capital firm. This move will bolster the network of international investors supporting NUS-affiliated ventures and provide founders with stronger links to European capital.

The partnership is particularly focused on BioTech, AI, and semiconductors, aligning with the strengths of both ecosystems and Singapore's RIE2030 strategy, which allocates €25 billion (S$37 billion) to research, innovation, and enterprise over five years. For NUS students, the partnership presents new avenues for hands-on venture-building experience in Munich.

NUS students can intern with portfolio companies of the Munich-based VC partner, gaining direct exposure to building and scaling technology ventures in Europe. Selected NUS students will also have access to UnternehmerTUM programs centered on IP-based venture creation, such as Startup Launchpad, Digital Product School, and the UnternehmerTUM Incubator.
