NPP will reclaim Ablekuma West seat ‘with a huge margin’ – Kow Essuman

Former Ghanian legal counsel to former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Kow Essuman, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will regain the Ablekuma West parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2028 general election. Essuman made these remarks during a meeting with party supporters in the constituency on Tuesday, as he campaigns to be the NPP's nominee for the 2028 election.

"We will reclaim the Ablekuma West seat with a wide lead," Essuman told the gathering, detailing his intention to lead the party's efforts in recapturing a seat previously held by the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The 2024 election saw the NDC's Kweku Addo win with 31,866 votes compared to the NPP's Ursula Owusu-Ekuful's 26,575 votes, according to the official constituency results.

Essuman's outreach to party members is part of his strategy to garner support for his parliamentary bid as the NPP gears up for the next general election. He utilized this meeting to discuss the party's chances in the constituency and his determination to represent the NPP on the parliamentary ballot. Additionally, Essuman has shown his backing for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's presidential candidate, emphasizing Ghana's need for his intellectual capacity to tackle the country's issues.

"Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been blessed with intelligence, and at this juncture, Ghana requires his intellect," Essuman stated to the party faithful, highlighting Dr Bawumia's intellectual prowess and experience in national affairs. Essuman's endorsement of Dr Bawumia was just one aspect of his extensive engagement with NPP supporters in Ablekuma West, where he is vying for the party's parliamentary ticket and aims to restore the constituency to the NPP in 2028.
