Negeri Sembilan MB rejects Anwar’s ‘rude, uncivilised’ claim, says exco acted within role

Negeri Sembilan's Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, has dismissed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's characterization of their actions as "rude" and "uncivilised". Ismail clarified that they did not decide to remove or appoint the Yang di-Pertuan Besar. Rather, the state executive council merely discussed the state administration's stance on a proclamation presented as the decision of the four Undangs.

Ismail reiterated his respect for Anwar's concern for the Royal Institution, but emphasized that the criticism was based on an incomplete understanding of the Menteri Besar and the exco's roles. The state executive council's agreement to subsequent administrative action does not imply a takeover of the Undangs' powers or the decision-making regarding the Yang di-Pertuan Besar's position, Ismail explained.

He reiterated that any questions about the proclamation's validity or its constitutional impact should be addressed according to Negeri Sembilan's Constitution and relevant legal procedures.
