Navi Mumbai, September 24, 2026: A teenage driver survived a dramatic 70-foot plunge off Parsik Hill onto railway tracks near CBD Belapur on Thursday afternoon. The Honda City he was operating ended up on the Belapur-Uran railway line, causing brief delays to local train services.

Seventeen-year-old Chinmay Patil, a Class 12 student, suffered only minor injuries and is currently in shock, unable to speak. Police are awaiting his statement to determine the precise circumstances of the accident. No eyewitness accounts exist, and it remains unclear whether Patil lost control while reversing the vehicle.

The teenager is believed to have purchased the second-hand Honda City from a friend's name without his family's knowledge. He allegedly used the friend's Aadhaar card to buy the vehicle in four weeks prior. Patil's parents were unaware of the car's ownership transfer.

The accident occurred near the Vishwanath Maharaj Samadhi Temple, high above the tunnel leading to CBD Belapur station. The falling car struck trees and bushes along the 70-foot descent, significantly reducing its impact. Though the vegetation lessened the blow, the vehicle still came to rest between the two railway tracks, avoiding contact with overhead electric wires.

Rescue efforts to remove the car from the tracks were hampered by its precise landing spot, requiring hundreds of meters of dragging by railway personnel, fire brigade officials, and local volunteers before it could be relocated. Local train services on the Belapur-Uran route were briefly halted for approximately two-and-a-half hours.
