Mwangi targets back-to-back KAGC wins at Nanyuki Open U.S. Kids Mombasa Tour tees off

Alex Mwangi is targeting a second consecutive victory in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series when he plays in the NCBA Nanyuki Open at the Nanyuki Sports Club from Friday, 25th to Sunday, 27th. Mwangi secured his maiden win in the series last weekend at the NCBA Diani Beach Masters, held at Diamond Leisure Beach & Golf Resort, with a score of 2-over-par 218, including rounds of 76, 71, and 71.

The event will feature 66 golfers competing for ranking points and a share of KES 500,000. Mwangi will face strong competition from Eugene Wafula, who won the NCBA Malindi Open 'Vasco da Gama Cup' two weeks ago, as well as players like Josphat Rono, John Kamais, and Nakuru Golf Club's John Kamais. The only female competitor is Karen Country Club's Kellie Gachaga.

Despite not playing recently, Jay Sandhu leads the 2026 KAGC standings with 1,535 points, followed by John Kamais, Muigua, and Adel Taufiq Balala. The NCBA U.S. Kids Mombasa Local Fall Tour will commence on 27th September 2026 at Vipingo Ridge Golf Resort, launching a six-event season aimed at providing junior golfers on the Coast with regular competition and development opportunities.
