Eagles sign Shaun Wade to practice squad

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed cornerback Shaun Wade to their practice squad ahead of their Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bears. Wade joined the Eagles in June after playing for the Dallas Renegades in the UFL. During his time with the Renegades, Wade recorded three interceptions and nine pass breakups in eight games.

A former Ohio State standout, Wade was originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fifth round in 2021, only to be traded to the New England Patriots before his rookie season. At the NFL level, Wade has appeared in 20 regular-season games, all with the Patriots. The move to sign Wade comes after the Eagles added veteran defensive back Kenny Moore II to the practice squad the day prior.

Wade's inclusion on the practice squad provides the Eagles with additional experienced options to support their active roster secondary. However, for Wade to play against the Bears, he would need to be elevated from the practice squad prior to the game. For Wade, this signing presents an opportunity to resume his training camp progress and provide the Eagles with an extra defensive back as they navigate the remainder of the season.
