Malaysia, Nepal to streamline labour recruitment, curb abuses

Malaysia and Nepal have agreed to streamline their labour recruitment processes, aiming to eliminate practices that burden workers or expose them to exploitation, according to Human Resources Minister R Ramanan. The commitment was discussed during a phone conversation between Ramanan and his Nepali counterpart, Ramjee Yadav. Both countries emphasized the need for a more orderly, transparent, and integrity-driven recruitment system while addressing issues that may lead to worker exploitation.

The agreement also covers bilateral ties in labor and employment. Ramanan highlighted Malaysia's commitment to managing foreign workers based on principles of integrity, transparency, accountability, and worker protection, without compromising the industries' and labor market's needs. The two nations, maintaining diplomatic ties since 1960, pledged to continue communication through appropriate channels to strengthen cooperation in labor and employment.
