Madonna and Charli XCX Unite for New Song “Danceteria Afterhours”

Madonna and Charli xcx have teamed up for a new version of "Danceteria," the iconic track from Madonna's July album Confessions II. The original song tells the story of Madonna's early days in New York City and the history of the famous club Danceteria, where she made her mark alongside other party enthusiasts like Debi Mazar and Basquiat.

In this revamped version, Charli brings her own club kid experience, recalling moments such as being 15 years old in a peculiar outfit during her first DJing gig in London and visiting Los Angeles in 2015 to hang out with A.G. Cook and SOPHIE, where she encountered "different DJs, flavored cocaine."

This reimagined track follows the earlier "Afterhours" rendition of "Love Sensation," which featured Kylie Minogue. Confessions II soared to the top spot on the Billboard 200 after its July 3 release, marking Madonna's first No. 1 album of the 2020s. This achievement makes her the first act to top the chart in three different decades, including her initial victory in the 1980s.

Madonna is set to open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards with her first appearance at the event in 23 years. She has also earned the highest number of nominations at this year's VMAs, tallying 11 nods.
