King Shaka Airport murals showcase KZN’s tourism attractions

As travelers pass through King Shaka International Airport (KSIA), they are greeted with a vibrant display of murals that showcase the beauty and attractions of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). The initiative, a collaboration between Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), KZN Ezemvelo Wildlife, and the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority, aims to introduce visitors to the province's top destinations and experiences as soon as they step into the airport.

Nkosinathi Myataza, the Regional General Manager of ACSA, explained that the airport has transformed non-commercial spaces within the domestic and international arrivals terminals, as well as outside the terminal, into a gallery of murals. The partnership enables KSIA to play a role in shaping visitors' first impressions of KwaZulu-Natal, making the airport a gateway to the province's tourism offerings.

The murals are not just aesthetic additions; they serve a practical purpose too. Alongside showcasing the province's attractions, they provide visitors with essential information such as the distances to various destinations and contact details for bookings and inquiries. This dual approach ensures that KSIA is welcoming to both tourists and local travelers, while also supporting the tourism and destination marketing initiatives of the province.
