JPJ denies fake news on Rohingya driving licences, files MCMC report

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 24 — The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has categorically denied a claim made on the ‘Along Auto Parts’ Facebook page that they are considering allowing Rohingya refugees to obtain driving licenses. The alleged official news report, which has since been flagged for potential misinformation, prompted JPJ to file a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the matter and take necessary actions.

JPJ strongly condemns any individual or entity that uses its name, identity, or image to spread misleading information that tarnishes the department's reputation. The public is urged to refrain from sharing unverified information and to consult official JPJ channels for accurate updates. Despite the post's removal, it had garnered significant attention, with over 1,800 comments and 325 shares as of 9:15 am.
