itel, a technology company, has warned against individuals using AI-generated images and fabricated content to spread false information about its products. This warning came after an AI-generated image of the itel Power Tank exploding went viral on social media, accompanied by a false claim that the portable power station had indeed exploded.

The company clarified in a statement that the content was fabricated and threatened legal action against those who deliberately spread misinformation, aiming to protect its brand and customers. The incident began when a user named Enori shared the AI-generated image and claimed the explosion, which later turned out to be entirely fabricated.

Enori later apologized for the misinformation, acknowledging that the claim was untrue and apologized for the confusion caused. The Power Tank, marketed by itel, is a portable power station designed for backup power during outages. It uses lithium iron phosphate batteries and includes safety features such as battery management and over-voltage protection. Despite the viral image, there has been no verified incident linking the product to an explosion.
