Israel displaces hundreds of Palestinians amid wave of demolitions in West Bank

Israeli forces demolished 24 homes, 16 agricultural structures, 16 solar panels, and 14 water tanks in the Janba village in Masafer Yatta, southern West Bank, on September 23, 2026, leaving 176 people homeless, including 85 children. The village has been designated as a "firing zone" by Israel since the 1980s, leading to a surge in forced displacement since October 2023.

Residents, like Nu'man Jabarin, who has lived in the same cave for decades, expressed their refusal to leave, claiming their land and ownership documents. Nidal Jabarin, another resident, accused Israeli political parties of intensifying their policies during election periods to harm Palestinians and accused Israel of targeting not only the village's residents but also its history and geography.
