Idrus Ibrahim died in his sleep, says daughter

Idrus Ibrahim, the elder brother of Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, passed away in his sleep at his home in Cherok Tok Kun, Bukit Mertajam. His daughter, Aida Rafizah Idrus, expressed her shock and disbelief at her father's sudden death at the age of 83. Despite suffering a heart attack the previous year, Idrus had recovered and maintained a poor appetite, but still managed daily activities like getting up, walking, and managing himself.

His leg strength had weakened, but he was still able to perform basic tasks. Aida noted that her father ate a small amount of kiwi fruit and a specific type of cake before lying down to rest, likely to perform the Asar prayer, which resulted in him falling unconscious around 5:30 pm. Anwar conveyed his grief on Facebook from China, where he was on a working visit, requesting prayers for his late brother.

The family accepted the passing as a natural occurrence due to old age, while still being deeply saddened by the loss. Funeral prayers will be held at Cheruk Tokkun Bawah Mosque, and the burial will take place at Cheruk Tokkun Bawah Cemetery after Friday prayers.
