I don’t consider myself overly honest –Mzbel

Ghanaian singer Mzbel has stated that she does not consider herself overly honest, despite her reputation for openly expressing her views. In an interview with Kafui Dey, Mzbel explained that she wanted to be loved, but not at the cost of her freedom. She said that she has never strived for public acceptance at the expense of her own autonomy and would rather speak her mind than alter herself to please others.

Mzbel acknowledged that criticism can be painful, but she would not allow public opinion to dictate her actions or speech. She explained that while it can hurt when people attack her, she would not make the sacrifice of limiting herself simply to gain approval or admiration. Mzbel emphasized that her approach is to say what she believes needs to be said when it needs to be said, without deliberately trying to harm anyone.

She rejected the notion that she is "too honest" and instead suggested that people should not blame her for how they personally react to her comments. Mzbel believes that if someone chooses to take her words to heart and become hurt, it is their own decision.
