Home minister: Police probing Negeri Sembilan royal dispute from ‘every angle’

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 — The police are currently probing the escalating royal dispute in Negeri Sembilan from every conceivable angle, following multiple reports filed in relation to the matter, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail disclosed. While the specifics of their investigation remain confidential, the security forces are solely concentrating on maintaining public order, preventing street brawls, and ensuring the safety of the public, NST reported.

Saifuddin emphasized that the police have implemented preventive security measures to avert any gatherings that could potentially degenerate into confrontations, stating, “They are looking at every angle.” He further affirmed that he has entrusted the police with the sole responsibility of concluding their investigation before deciding whether to submit the case papers to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further guidance.

When addressing Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s stance on purported plans to dethrone the Negeri Sembilan Ruler, Saifuddin reiterated that any attempt to depose a hereditary sovereign is viewed as a matter of utmost gravity under Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy. The unfolding controversy has ignited a flurry of allegations and rebuttals concerning the legitimacy and authority of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
