Hello Moto! Can the new Motorola Signature 27 smartphone really deliver pro photography features on a budget?

Motorola has unveiled the Motorola Signature 27 smartphone, a device Motorola claims to be its most advanced yet. Despite the company's limited presence in the crowded camera phone market, the Signature 27 demonstrates Motorola's ambition to compete with industry giants Apple and Samsung. The 27 boasts a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens – both described as "highlights" by Motorola.

The camera system also features four lens modules, quadruple the typical count, and benefits from Qualcomm's Image Stabilization technology along with Motorola's Video Enhancement Engine, which employs artificial intelligence to enhance colour accuracy and overall footage quality. Motorola has highlighted its ArcticMesh cooling system, utilizing a diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned 3D vapor chamber to ensure the phone runs efficiently even during intensive tasks like video recording or AI usage.

The phone will be released in green and black colours. Motorola has also integrated Google's Gemini as an AI assistant and continued its collaboration with Bang & Olufsen to improve audio capabilities. While Motorola's Signature series is not new, the Signature 27 represents a fresh chapter in Motorola's strategy. The '27' signifies Motorola's intent to create a recognisable line of flagship phones, moving away from the diverse range of models currently on offer.

The Signature 27 is scheduled for a late-year debut, with its exact release date, price and full specifications yet to be announced. Motorola has also pledged seven OS updates and up to seven years of security updates for the new device.
