GTA 6 Fans Are Outraged by $400 Collector's Set and Are Comparing It to Red Dead Redemption 2's Version

GTA 6 enthusiasts are fuming over a $400 collector's set that doesn't include the game itself. Rockstar Games recently announced the high-priced package, which offers an array of premium merchandise but leaves out the disc or digital version of GTA 6. Fans are expressing outrage online, deeming the price tag too steep and the value too low.

Comparisons have been drawn between this set and previous Rockstar editions, such as the GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 collector's boxes. While those previous sets included the game and some intriguing accessories, the GTA 6 offering seems to lack necessary components like a steelbook or the game disc. Individual fans have voiced their disdain, with one stating that they "hate to say it, but I think I’m gonna pass on the collector’s edition."

Another noted that a decade ago, a similar special edition would have been priced at $129.99 and included the game along with other premium items. Rockstar's previous GTA 6 special editions have been praised for their reasonable price points and inclusion of unique merchandise. Some fans would have preferred a GTA 6 Collector's Box similar to the one for Red Dead Redemption 2, which they felt connected more to the game and offered better value at around $100.

The collector's set for GTA 6 also includes a special physical version of Leonida's map, a detail that has fueled concerns about the standard boxed copy not including any physical materials. While it's currently unclear if the regular physical copy of GTA 6 will feature a map, fans are understandably worried about this omission.

The GTA 5 special editions, in contrast, offered more comprehensive physical packages, including steelbooks, maps, digital content, and the game disc, all at lower price points. The upcoming physical edition of GTA 6, set to release on November 12, will come with a code and will be available for pre-order a week prior to the game's launch, but the absence of a disc has further exacerbated fan dissatisfaction.

Other limited edition items, such as DualSense controllers and a vinyl album, are also being offered for superfans, but the overall reaction to the $400 collector's set remains overwhelmingly negative.
