Greater Noida Bus On Fire, Driver Told Passengers "Won't Stop, Don't Care If You Die"

A double-decker bus fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida resulted in nine fatalities, including one woman, and left several others injured. Survivors and eyewitnesses shared their harrowing experiences of the chaotic moments following the fire. One survivor recounted waking up to the sound of the bus engulfing in flames, with thick smoke filling the vehicle.

Another injured woman, traveling to Mahoba following the loss of her mother-in-law, expressed her distress over not knowing the whereabouts of her husband during the incident. Eyewitness Baba Durjan, who lives close to the accident site, witnessed flames emanating from the bus's roof and reached the scene within ten minutes. Upon arrival, he observed hundreds of people surrounding the area, with emergency services promptly arriving to assist.

A passenger named Sunil Kumar accused the driver and conductor of disregarding warnings about a burning odor inside the bus. According to Kumar, he and several others had alerted the driver and conductor to the issue, but they dismissed the concerns, continuing to operate the vehicle despite the potential danger. The driver and conductor were allegedly seen smoking inside the bus cabin, further exacerbating the situation.

As the fire rapidly spread, smoke filled the bus, and passengers frantically tried to escape, with some jumping out after the vehicle halted. Several were tragically left trapped inside and succumbed to their injuries. The police have registered a case and are actively investigating the cause of the fire, as well as the allegations of negligence against the driver and conductor.
