Google Launches Five Googlebooks With Android Integration and Gemini AI

Google has officially introduced its first Googlebook laptops, a new category of premium devices that seamlessly integrate Android smartphones and laptops. The company unveiled five Googlebook models from five different manufacturers: Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Each model features premium materials like aluminum, magnesium alloy, and carbon fiber, and includes advanced hardware elements such as haptic glass trackpads, backlit keyboards, Dolby Atmos speakers, touchscreens, and displays reaching up to 2.8K OLED resolution.

Priced between $899 and $1,299, the Googlebooks aim to provide a smoother experience for users who already rely on Android devices, with several innovative features designed for better device integration.

Googlebook integrates Android phone and laptop functionalities through several features. The "Continue On" feature allows users to pick up tasks from their Android phones when they switch to their Googlebook laptops. The integrated Files app provides users with the ability to access, search, and open files and photos stored on their Android phones directly from the laptop.

Additionally, "Cast My Apps" enables Android phone apps to run inside desktop windows, allowing users to manage mobile and laptop tasks together effortlessly. Another key feature is Gemini AI, integrated into the Googlebook experience, enabling users to activate the AI by moving the cursor and selecting content. Gemini can assist with tasks based on the visible content on the screen and generate custom widgets in response to natural language descriptions.

The Gemini AI features come with user permissions and do not perform actions without explicit user consent. Every Googlebook also includes a year of Google AI Pro, offering 5TB of cloud storage and advanced Gemini tools. The lineup of Googlebooks features models from each manufacturer with unique specifications. The ASUS Googlebook 14 boasts an Intel Core Ultra processor, a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, and up to 32GB of RAM, priced at $1,299.

Similarly, the Lenovo Googlebook 15 features an Intel Core Ultra processor, a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen display, and comes in at $1,299. The Dell XPS Googlebook uses a Snapdragon X processor, a 13.4-inch 2.5K LCD display, and is priced at $1,199. HP's Googlebook 14 includes a Snapdragon X processor, a 14-inch 2.8K OLED touchscreen display, and is available for $1,299.

Acer's Googlebook 14 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra processor, a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, and starts at $899, making it the most affordable option among the five models. All Googlebooks include the Glowbar—a new design element on the laptop lid that lights up during startup, displays battery information, reacts to animations during Gemini interactions, and includes hidden animations.

Notably, Google will continue to offer Chromebooks, particularly targeting markets in education and enterprise, alongside its new Googlebook lineup.
