From Kylie to Lachie, everything you need to know for the AFL grand final

The AFL grand final between Brisbane and Fremantle is set to begin at 2.30pm (AEST) on Saturday, September 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue will perform a 20-minute set before the match from around 1.30pm. Only Channel 7 and 7Plus will broadcast the game, while ABC Sport will provide live commentary and a live blog on abc.net.au.

The Brisbane Lions aim to complete a threepeat, their second in 25 years, while the Fremantle Dockers seek their first flag since joining the league in 1995. Brisbane has reached the grand final four years in a row, losing to Collingwood in 2023 before winning against Sydney and Geelong in the following years. A win would be the second consecutive threepeat, joining Melbourne's feats in the 1930s and 1950s.

Fremantle, however, has yet to secure a premiership since joining the league in 1995. The two teams have played three times in the past six matches, with the ledger tied at 3-3. Fremantle triumphed at the Gabba in round 13 this year.

Pre-game entertainment includes performances by Minogue and G Flip, followed by Michael Paynter on the national anthem. There will be no halftime entertainment. Other acts include Mike Brady doing Up There Cazaly during the retiree motorcade, and The Wiggles will perform at the Friday parade through Melbourne.

The list of players for both teams will be announced at 6pm (AEST) today. Should Brisbane's Lachie Neale miss the tribunal appeal for a one-match ban, Noah Answerth is the most likely replacement. Brennan Cox, an injured player, could potentially replace a Dockers player, but it appears the Dockers will field their unchanged preliminary final team.
