FG unveils online discount platform for serving, retired military personnel

The Federal Government has launched an online discount shop to provide essential goods at reduced prices to serving and retired Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families. The initiative was formally inaugurated in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, on Thursday. Akume emphasized that the welfare of military personnel extends beyond operational capabilities, highlighting the importance of supporting the well-being of serving personnel and their families.

He commended the Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group for signing the Memorandum of Understanding that underpins the project. Akume stated that the online discount shop, accessible through the Konga platform, would allow eligible personnel to conveniently purchase a variety of goods at discounted prices. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Olufemi Oluyede, echoed these sentiments, stating that the scheme represents the first of several initiatives planned within the next three months to enhance the welfare of military personnel, in line with the "Soldier First" leadership principle.

Zinox Group, represented by its founder Dr Leo Stan Ekeh, praised the initiative as a means of appreciating the sacrifices and dedication of military personnel and their families. The event highlighted this partnership as part of ongoing efforts to leverage digital technology and strategic alliances to improve the welfare and service delivery to those who have served Nigeria.
