Ekuiti 30% Bumiputera: Puteri Umno gesa Srikandi PKR jangan alih isu

Puteri Umno Pulau Pinang's Ameera Nadia Mohd Shafiee has urged Srikandi PKR's Women Leader, Nurhidayah Che Rose, to not divert the issue of the changed 30% Bumiputera equity requirement in private education institutions to the past administration. Ameera stated that Nurhidayah should address the real issue and explain why the Ministry of Education (KPM) linked the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) in this matter.

She asked why the Ministry of Education (KPM) cited the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Industry (MITI) in this matter if the change was just a basic implementation of the 2012 policy. Ameera also noted that Nurhidayah's statement yesterday, urging Puteri Umno's Women Leader Nooryana Najwa Najib to refer to past administrations' decisions, included referencing her father's leadership.

According to Ameera, Srikandi PKR should not associate the name Najib as an excuse for every current administration's decision. She also urged the government to explain whether MITI truly participated in the discussions or if the Ministry of Economy was also involved in the decision-making process. Nooryana was reported to have said that KPM needs to quickly clarify and explain why MITI was linked to the adjustment of the 30% Bumiputera ownership requirement for private education institutions.

Nooryana claimed the matter became an issue after MITI insisted the ministry had no involvement in determining the relevant standards. MITI later stated they have no information on the KPM decision to revoke the requirement, while explaining that the ownership requirements for Bumiputera shares are under the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) within the Ministry of Economy.
