CNN, MS NOW, Politico request court hearing after White House access denied

Three major news organizations, CNN, MS NOW and Politico, have urged a court to urgently reconvene after being denied access to the White House, despite a judge's previous ruling to restore their entry. The news organizations stated in a court filing that reporters were denied entry to the White House on Thursday, despite a judge's order.

Judge Timothy Kelly had previously ruled that the White House's decision to bar the news organizations violated their constitutional rights. The news outlets argued that the White House's decision was a violation of their First Amendment rights, which protect freedom of the press. The Department of Justice had defended the White House's decision, arguing that the press does not have an absolute right to access to the White House.

The White House Press Office accused CNN, MS NOW and Politico of distributing "fake news" and "fiction and lies." The news organizations had requested a video or teleconference hearing as soon as possible, citing the urgency of the situation. The broadcast networks, in solidarity with CNN, announced they would halt pool coverage of the White House.
