Case against Shahkot SHO for abduction, misuse of authority

Sahiwal: Shahkot SHO Imtiaz Hussain Noon has been suspended from duty and accused of abduction and misuse of authority, according to regional police officer (RPO) Rana Ayaz Saleem. The incident arose after Noon revived a four-year-old theft case filed by Nasir Mahmood Masood against unidentified suspects. He recorded a supplementary statement from the complainant and arrested Masood's rivals, Mohsin Pervaiz, Pervaiz Iqbal, and Qamar Zaman, accusing them as the case's accused.

An inquiry was conducted after the Lahore High Court ordered the accused to be presented in court on September 17, which Noon failed to comply with by September 16. The court's notice compelled RPO Rana Ayaz Saleem to order an inquiry, leading to SHO Imtiaz's guilty verdict on September 19, and his subsequent suspension and case registration on September 22.

The alleged abduction involved a nine-year-old girl, Arooj, who was forcibly taken from her divorced mother, Reema, by her father, Jabbar, and eleven armed accomplices during an attack near village Thatha Araiyan on Tuesday night. Jabbar's two brothers, Salman and Amanat, resisted the abduction and were critically injured in a gunfight and axe attack.

The suspects fled with Arooj on a loader rickshaw and motorcycles. Four suspects were arrested in the case, while the remaining individuals remain at large.
