BJP nominates 14 to Surat Municipal School Board

The state BJP has nominated 14 individuals to the Surat Municipal School Board (MSBS) on Wednesday. Among them are a co-convenor from the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samithi, party functionaries, educators, medical store owners, and former Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) officials. Notably, Kiran Ghoghari, an advocate and notary who notarised affidavits for Congress leader Nilesh Kumbhani's parliamentary election, is also among the nominees.

Earlier, over 300 BJP members expressed interest for the position on the MSB Surat. The list includes only four individuals native to Surat: Dharmishta Patel, Mayur Vaghela, Piyush Lakdawala, and Devanshi Joshi. The MSBS oversees around 365 municipal schools in Surat, educating over two lakh students in various mediums. The board consists of 15 members, with 12 elected and three nominated by the state government.

The nomenmination process is set to conclude by September 23, with the election taking place on October 9.
