Be professional, not vengeful, PAS told over PN suspension

Former Umno leader Puad Zarkashi has urged PAS to maintain a professional demeanor and avoid seeking revenge following the Registrar of Societies suspension of Perikatan Nasional (PN), a coalition led by PAS. Puad pointed out that a senior PAS official's warning that government parties would eventually be at the bottom suggested PAS would seek retribution once it gains federal power.

He noted that PAS is already displaying aggressive behavior towards Bersatu, a PN ally, despite not yet attaining power. Puad emphasized that PAS should act professionally, as PN has only been suspended and given 30 days to explain its actions. The former Rengit assemblyman also highlighted Umno's resilience, having nearly been wiped out after losing power in 2018 but never holding grudges against its rivals.

He cited the successful registrations of Wawasan and Rafizi Ramli's Bersama as evidence of Umno's strength. The RoS suspended PN earlier today, following a 30-day deadline for the coalition to address a complaint from Bersatu. This move occurred amid deteriorating relations between Bersatu and PAS, which ended their political cooperation in June.

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari claimed the suspension was politically motivated, aimed at hindering PN. However, Puad stressed that PAS should not harbor vengeance, as the situation could eventually benefit the Islamic party.
