Azalina: Anti‑Bullying Tribunal resolves five cases with awards, 55 complaints lodged since launch

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — As of Tuesday, the Anti-Bullying Tribunal (TAB) has received 55 complaints and resolved five cases through awards, said Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said. The awards included apologies, counseling participation, and up to RM2,000 in compensation. Datuk Seri Azalina explained that the tribunal's approach focuses on recovery for victims and changing the behavior of perpetrators, rather than solely on punishment.

She emphasized the importance of society's willingness to speak out against bullying and not to normalize this issue. To further address bullying, Datuk Seri Azalina launched the Anti-Bullying Act 2026 (Act 876) Literacy Programme and highlighted the role of the TAB at the Royal Military College (RMC) in Sungai Besi. This initiative aims to improve public understanding, especially among the younger generation, about the protections under Act 876 and the functions and procedures of the TAB, such as lodging complaints, the hearing process, and available remedies for victims.
