Azalina: Anti‑Bullying Tribunal resolves five cases with awards, 55 complaints lodged since launch

KUALA LUMPUR, September 23 — The Anti-Bullying Tribunal (TAB) has received 55 complaints since its inception, with five cases resolved through awards as of Tuesday, disclosed Azalina Othman Said, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform). Azalina highlighted that these awards encompassed apologies, enrollment in counseling programs, and a monetary compensation of RM2,000 in one instance.

She emphasized that the tribunal's approach prioritizes victim recovery and corrective measures for offenders rather than merely imposing penalties. Beyond the legal structure, Azalina underscored the importance of societal involvement in combating bullying, urging both victims and witnesses to speak up against such misconduct, which she stressed, should not be trivialized or normalized.

In line with the Madani Government's commitment to combat bullying effectively, she inaugurated the Anti-Bullying Act 2026 (Act 876) Literacy Programme and TAB's role at the Royal Military College (RMC), Sungai Besi, today. This initiative aims to raise public awareness, especially among the younger demographic, regarding the protections offered under Act 876, the functions of TAB, and the procedural steps for lodging complaints, including the hearing process and available remedies for victims.
