Around 70 people in Netherlands branded “security threat”

The Dutch immigration ministry has labeled approximately 70 individuals as potential threats to national security over the past decade, resulting in the revocation of their residency permits and, in some cases, their passports. This information was discovered through an investigation conducted by the Dutch news program Nieuwsuur.

The majority of these individuals have been convicted of terrorism-related offenses, according to the news program. Three men who played a role in planning an attack in Arnhem have been included on the list of designated security threats.

However, not all individuals on the list are considered terrorists. For instance, a Russian national suspected of stealing secrets from Dutch chip manufacturer ASML has also been labeled a security threat. The justice ministry has not confirmed the exact number of people from the list who are currently in custody. Individuals classified as a threat to national security are deported and barred from re-entering the Netherlands.
