Antoine Semenyo nominated for Premier League Player of the Month after his impressive start

Antoine Semenyo has re-entered the running for the Premier League's Player of the Month accolade after another stellar display for Manchester City in September. The Ghanaian midfielder played the entire game in each of City's five league triumphs that month. He contributed with four goals, scoring twice and assisting twice, as City enjoyed a perfect start to the season.

Semenyo's first assist arrived in their 1-0 win against Coventry City, where he provided a cross for Erling Haaland to score the lone goal. In their 2-1 victory over Manchester United, he played a pivotal role before once again proving his worth against Sunderland, where he assisted Rayan Cherki and netted twice in a 5-3 victory.

This performance earned him a nomination for the Premier League's Player of the Matchweek award. With three assists this season, Semenyo is cementing his status as an essential attacking threat for Pep Guardiola. He previously won the February award, becoming only the third Ghanaian to achieve such a feat. His only competitors for the September title are Alexander Isak, Jeremy Jacquet, Jayden Bogle, Mohamed Bellouni, Pascal Gross, Kevin Schade, and Charalampos Kostoulas, all from Liverpool.

Semenyo withdrew from Ghana's national team squad for the September international window due to a swollen leg, meaning he will miss crucial qualifiers against Ivory Coast and The Gambia.
