Aiyedatiwa adopts AI system to automate Ondo civil service

Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has introduced an AI-powered digital system aimed at streamlining personnel administration, retirement and pension processes. The system, known as 'Ondo AI', allows government officials real-time access to information for informed decision-making.

Addressing the launch at the Cocoa Conference Hall in Akure, Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the initiative was about transforming the government's approach to 'thinking, working and serving the people'. He highlighted that in the age of information, data is a crucial resource, and speed and accuracy are vital for quality decision-making.

Aiyedatiwa stated that the system was part of the administration's plan to shift from analogue processes to a more efficient, transparent, and responsive public service. He underscored that the digital era demands a technological approach, and the government cannot continue using outdated systems.

The Managing Director of SmartApps IT Limited, Mr Godwin Odoma, demonstrated the platform, explaining that it would automate civil service administration, payroll management, retirement processing, and pension migration. The system contains detailed records of civil servants, including photographs, appointment details, promotion letters, academic qualifications, complaints, and other relevant documents.

Odoma also noted that the system would alert the government when a worker approached retirement and enable civil servants to use a self-service platform to determine their retirement dates. He assured that there would be no uncertainty about retirement timing.

Chief Segun Odusanya, the Head of Service, welcomed the initiative, stating that it marks a significant step in modernizing the public service to meet contemporary governance demands. He highlighted that the effectiveness of public service relies heavily on how human resources are managed, developed, and deployed.
