2027 AFCONQ: GFA seeks extra tickets for Ghana fans ahead of Ivory Coast clash

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reached out to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for additional tickets to accommodate the numerous Ghanaian supporters who have traveled to Bouaké for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d'Ivoire. Upon arrival, around 500 fans found themselves without access to the match after the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced that all tickets for the Group C encounter at Stade de la Paix had sold out.

During a recent Match Coordination Meeting (MCM), the GFA received its official ticket allocation, yet it was insufficient to cater to the large contingent of supporters currently present in the Ivorian city. Consequently, the association submitted a formal request to CAF for an additional block of roughly 500 tickets, aiming to ensure the traveling fans can attend the game.

The matter has also been brought to the attention of the match commissioner, who has pledged his support in finding a resolution. The GFA remains committed to providing the opportunity for Ghanaian supporters who have journeyed to Bouaké to cheer for the Black Stars. This encounter marks Ghana's opening fixture in the pursuit of qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, with Carlos Queiroz's team eager to start strong after missing out on the 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Following the match against the Elephants, the Black Stars will return to Accra to face The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27, before concluding the international window with a friendly against Morocco at the Grand Stade de Tanger on October 4. Ghana is seeking a return to the continental showpiece after finishing at the bottom of their qualifying group and failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON finals.
