10 loud explosions heard in Kyiv: AFP journalists

In the early hours of Thursday, Kyiv was shaken by a series of 10 powerful explosions, as reported by AFP journalists on the ground. The blasts, which triggered car alarms, followed a day of Russian strikes that resulted in at least seven deaths and sparked fires in the Ukrainian capital. Authorities had issued a missile alert prior to the explosions, warning of Russian ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv and its surroundings, along with the Chernigiv region north of the city.

Kyiv, with a population of approximately 3 million, has faced intense drone attacks in recent days amid heightened tensions in the region. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, stated that his country would not pause its war against Ukraine.
