YouTube Music adding corner access to ‘Ask Music’ with Gemini

YouTube Music is introducing a new feature called "Ask Music" to its mobile app, as part of the Made on YouTube 2026 updates slated for release later this year. The feature, which will be accessible via a Gemini spark icon in the top-right corner of the app, will allow users to engage with the conversational tool through voice input or a prompt box at the bottom of the screen. Suggested queries include creating a mix, discovering artists, and finding podcasts.

The conversational tool, Ask Music, will also be integrated throughout YouTube Music, such as when users are editing a playlist or creating a mix. Additionally, the tool will offer more agentic features this year, enabling users to customize their queue or delve deeper into artist lore.

Another update to YouTube Music is the "Your Podcast Lineup" feature, which serves as a personalized AI-audio guide. It provides a weekly spoken preview of recommended shows, complete with an explanation of why the user might like them and suggested episodes. This feature is optional, hands-free, and leverages audio generation AI capabilities. Testing for the "Your Podcast Lineup" feature will begin later this year for subscribers worldwide.
