We’ve identified two persons who allegedly helped Manhyia South MP escape arrest – EOCO

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has identified two individuals who allegedly assisted Manhyia South MP, Baffour Awuah, in evading arrest during a recent incident. According to EOCO, the two people were spotted on video assisting Awuah's escape on September 23, 2026. The Office stated that their actions are currently under assessment as part of their investigation into the matter.

EOCO explained that the attempted arrest was part of their efforts to compel Awuah's presence for an ongoing investigation. Despite Awuah being invited twice to the Manhyia South MP's constituency in February 2026 to participate in the investigation, he did not attend. Consequently, EOCO took steps to ensure his presence in line with the law.

However, the arrest attempt was halted when officers determined that further actions could pose a threat to public safety. EOCO has vowed to thoroughly review the incident and the pertinent video footage to decide on the subsequent course of action. They emphasized that the investigation is still active and will be guided by their review of the incident and the video evidence.
